This website (vpkarunakaran.com) is a personal portfolio operated by an individual. I take your privacy seriously and only process the minimum personal data necessary to respond to you. This notice explains what is collected, why, the legal basis under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the rights you have.
1 Who is responsible

2 What data is collected
a. Contact form
When you send a message through the contact form, I receive the name, email address, subject and message you choose to provide. This is used only to read and reply to your enquiry.
b. Technical / server data
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like all web hosts, Cloudflare automatically processes limited technical information (such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of the request) to deliver the page securely and to protect against attacks. I do not combine this with any other data or use it to identify you.
c. No tracking or advertising cookies
This site sets no advertising or analytics tracking cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, and no behavioural profiling.
3 Why & on what legal basis
- To answer your message — legal basis: your consent and/or steps taken at your request prior to contact (Art. 6(1)(a) and (b) GDPR).
- To keep the site secure and available — legal basis: legitimate interest in operating and protecting the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4 Service providers (processors)
To run the site and the contact form I use a small number of trusted providers, each of which processes data on my behalf under appropriate agreements:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — website hosting, security and content delivery.
- Web3Forms — relays contact-form submissions to my inbox.
- Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which may receive your IP address as part of the request.
Where a provider is located outside the EU/EEA, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
5 How long data is kept
Contact-form messages are kept only for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up, after which they are deleted. Technical server logs are retained for short periods by the host for security purposes.
6 Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- request access to the personal data I hold about you (Art. 15);
- request correction of inaccurate data (Art. 16);
- request erasure of your data (Art. 17);
- request restriction of processing (Art. 18);
- object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21);
- receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20);
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.
To exercise any of these, simply contact me via the homepage. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, dsb.gv.at).
